Pre-school curriculum

Our staff plan a fun and engaging curriculum each half term that is specifically tailored to reflect the interests of the children attending and to stimulate their learning.

Our curriculum builds on the requirements from the Department for Education and Ofsted to ensure the children learn key skills and knowledge during their time at The Hive.

We focus on key areas of learning and development, including:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

Beyond this, we develop activities that promote literacy and maths skills, and create chances for the children to better understand the world around them, as well as engaging in expressive art and design.

Ongoing observations mean that each child’s progress is regularly tracked, allowing staff to evaluate the next key milestones for the children.

The online learning journal, Tapestry, enables parents and carers to find out how their child is progressing, complete with pictures and comments from their key worker.
